About Penmachno Hall

An impressive rectory of granite and slate construction, Penmachno Hall has been sympathetically renovated to provide comfortable and spacious accommodation for the visitor.

Since acquiring the Hall in 2002, Lauraine and Simon Awdry have undertaken a programme of extensive refurbishment, redecoration being planned with a keen eye for interior design but also in keeping with the building’s history.

The front door, with its original Victorian brass bell-pull, leads to the large entrance hall. Two reception rooms, the Morning room and Dining room are for sole use of the visitors.

The Morning room, so named as it receives a great deal of sunshine in the early hours, is a dedicated lounge for the visitors. Comfy sofas and winter log fires create a relaxing area for reading, playing one of the many board games and researching what to do in the area.

The Dining room doubles as a friendly honesty bar and the venue for breakfast. A house selection of wines are available as are local beers and spirits. Breakfast is served here between 8 and 9.30am with an option to pre-order if required.

The landscaped garden, with large stone steps and random slate seating, allows the visitor to enjoy quiet moments listening to the river and enjoying the views. The espalier apple and pear trees provide fruit for the table as do the various berries from the fruit cage and strawberry and rhubarb beds. Home-made jams and chutneys feature largely on all our menus and jars are often available to purchase.
